I have seen some posts from a while back suggesting that owners of the Unison Research Smart 845 integrated amps have substituted E80CC tubes for the 12AU7's with excellent sonic results. I am wondering if anyone has tried this with the Unison Research S2K integrated amp that uses KT 88's and 12AU7's? Also, does anyone have any experience that would suggest that the tube life would be shortened with such a substitution?

Follow Ups:
I ran the E80CC in my smarts for about a month with ho problem. It sounded much much better. I stopped when a tech told me that the circuit was being stressed and i may ruin the tansformers. I think that tube draws twice the current and that may have been the problem. Put some teflon caps in your unit. It will be much improved. (Rel Exoticas)
