Kevin,Thanks for your message. Are there any potential downsides to paralleling 12AX7 triode sections in this circuit? A quick web search revealed that some people think it's a bad idea and can cause increased harmonic distortion.

The parallel 12AX7 is not bad idea. It results lower noise, and wider frequency range. (Conrad-Johnson use this connection in his top level poweramp.)
Parallel connection sometimes makes oscillation, but this is not typical for 12AX7. If there will be any oscillation, separated gridstopper will solve it.
