yup... a sorta "un-mono-ing" of the bass...some say a mono subwoofer will do... this might be the poor mans option to no subwoofer :-)

It does something. Since I used cheapo electrolytics with no film bypass, it probably affects the high frequencies too.I've had the parts for the next version of this amp (schematic linked at bottom) for a while, but haven't built the darn thing. I added a 6AS7G in between the 6SN7 (or 6CG7) and the 45, just to get the doubling of gain this thing really needs. I need to build it to see how crazy it sounds.

IMHO, I'd run at least 10 mills through the 6SN7, as much current as possible, at least 50 mills, through the 6080 ( which sounds better to my ears than a 6AS7, when used as a pass tube) , and have a ball with this. How about grid stoppers ??
Cool, thanks for the pointers. I usually throw the grid stoppers in while I'm building depending on what I've got laying around. I built a SET #10 amp for a guy and he complained when he got it that it didn't have enough treble. He ended up getting rid of the 100 ohm grid stoppers and said it was then bright and nice. I always use them just for good measure.Chris
