I have an amp with older Cinch 9 pin tube sockets.
I have retentioned them once a few years ago, but they seem to be a little loose again?
Should I try to retention them a second time, or replace them?
I have NOS Cinch, QQQ (Japan), and Belton (Korea) 9 pin tube sockets.Steve

I solder all the leads I need (and resistors tied to pins) onto the new socket. This is before removing the old socket. Make them 4 to 5 inch long, so you have plenty to play with. Single-stranded, cloth covered are the best, because they most easily hold their shape.
As you pull out the old socket, solder in the new leads --- one-by-one --- to avoid boo-boos. Photos definitely help.
Good luck!
I tightened up the tube socket pins this morning with wooden tooth pics.
They are now much tighter than they were previously.
So far....no pops, clicks, or other noise.
We will see if that lasts or not?
If they do get noisy again, then out they go!

And maybe a little Deoxit will help.
FWIW, I stuck in three tubes that I had never used before.
A NOS-tested FISHER-branded 12AT7 tube, that was made in France by RTC.
A pair of NOS-tested Matsushita (Japan) EL84 tubes.
Amazing depth and soundstage, with very good detail and strong bottom end.

I would not risk it unless the old sockets looked like the pins were noticeably corroded. There is always a chance of wiring mistake or breaking the lead of a component while you were making the changeover
"There is always a chance of wiring mistake or breaking the lead of a component while you were making the changeover"
Those are valid points, but I don't think he has a choice. If the sockets are worn out, they need to go. Yep, it's a lot of work...

I just number the wires, unsolder them, R&R three tube sockets (6 screws total), then solder the numbered wires to the new pins.
Unless I'm drinking at the time, it shouldn't take too long to do.

It's usually helpful to take a few photos at different angles. Documentary evidence can be very useful a few years down the pike.
The problem is finding those photos years later.

Well, that's why I got into tubes. Alcohol and HV - good times for all!!
