The film cap is the 0.1uf off of the VR tubes. If you can find an electrolytic with +400 volt rating with no more than 0.1uf you could use it. I have never seen an electrolytic with that specification. All other power supply caps are strictly personal preference.
Can I replace the 5AR4 with 2 x 274B for the attached circuit?
You show solid state diodes across the rectifier tube. What's the point of the rectifier tube in the first place based on that?
It's not doing anything but wasting wattage lighting up the filament.
But at least this regulator circuit seems functional at first glance.
But why a zener across the VR tube? Is it a higher voltage to protect from runaway voltage of the VR tube is pulled or fails? In that case it's a great idea.
How about that only adopt the attached regulator but different rectification, adding choke and no wired 2 capacitors in series?
Power transformer => 2 x 274B => 50uf 1000v => 10H 0.1A choke => 50uf 1000v and then feeding the above regulator circuit
