Build the Bartola Gen 2 01A preamp. You will get much better results. You will need a pair of Rod Coleman filament regs, to be used in filament bias. See Lyrima.com. And a couple of Gyrator kits from Ale Moglia, see Bartola Valves.

I've built loads of 26, 4P1L and 01A line stages with all kinds of configurations, and the Gen 2 is the best - by common consent - of all these builds.

Thanks for the link - I have seen that preamp but not that detailed page. It's a bit over my head. I used FETs once before in the bias circuit of an EL84 amp. I don't doubt that the Bartola pramp is terrific. If I can beat hum and microphonics on this one, I'll try improvements later.
Cheers
Rod's regs and Ale's gyrator are both easily assembled PCBs. If you can stuff a PCB you just have to hook the PCBs up to the rest of the circuit, which is fairly simple. Rod and Ale will answer any questions. It's worth it!
