Built a version of it. Very nice amp. I've just recently changed the front end of the circuit to match the Eico HF-86 - with no NFB. Result was a bit weaker bass and more musical midrange - a wash really.Both versions simply deliver more music than my ST70 Van Alstine.
Follow Ups:
I have the iron from a parted out EICO HF-81 intgrated amp under a bench in the garage and was thinking putting together an HF-86 clone, as the iron is the same. Remember the HF-86 to be one of the better sounding in completly stock form, and that was with ceramic disk caps for coupling. Would it sound better with more modern caps, etc.?Any thoughts or suggestions?
Can't say. I built from scratch. I used 716P orange drops for coupling and silver mica for the pf values. Sounds wonderful.
Do you know where I can find the Magnavox Schematic?TIA
