Hey guys,
Sorry to bother again. I've put this off as long as I can - it is time to buy a tape player. There are a few pretty cool labels putting our cassette only releases. I'm not going to ditch my sl1200 v15 rig, but I would like the ability to listen to cassettes too.
Is there anything around $200 that can do the job? Looking for sound quality and dependability both. Do not want a high maintenance set-up. Just want the ability to listen to some tapes if I buy them. If something comes out on vinyl, I will still buy the vinyl. Absolutely zero interest in recording.
I use a will vincent modified Baldwin amp into klipsch fortes or a schiit amp into ath 150s if that matters.
Thanks for your help, you guys are the best.

Tascam 112RMKII. Have one. Very nice deck for the money.
There is a Revox B710 on ebay at $255 with 3 days to go. It's no Dragon, but it is beautifully made and has no belts. There is also the Studer version of the same deck on ebay at $161 with 4 days to go. I had the Studer, and seem to recall it had balanced XLR connectors, but making adapters to single-ended is easy.
The unknown is always head wear. If the heads need and can tolerate relapping, that can easily be a few hundred dollars. If they won't take relapping then you need to find new ones. Tape is expensive, but sometimes you get lucky.
