I'd like to suggest that the default sorting for boards be:
The thread with the latest message floats to the top of the list.Otherwise, you have to search through 2 pages of current threads, or go to the archives to respond to threads you're interested in.
People are much less likely to respond to a thread if it isn't near the top of the first page. Out of sight, out of mind :(

HowdyThere is an option to sort threads by last Update and to have it be your default.
I can't tell if you are not aware of it or if your suggestion is that it be the default default for everyone.

Yeah, think it should be everyone's default -- initially -- until they choose a different default.Just think threads would have longer life. Could be wrong.
HowdyMy personal favorite is the Last Visit view. It only shows you the posts you haven't seen that were posted in the last 48 hours, so If you visit at least once every 48 hours, you don't miss anything and you don't need to wade thru the posts you've already seen.
