The Twins are the best speakers I've ever heard in my home. I'm extremely happy with them. I can't imagine how their more expensive Trentes sound. Music has a realism to it that hypnotizes you. You get that tingley feeling that makes your head swim. I can't put my finger on it but they have a sound that's addictive. The reviewers are right when they say it "pulls you into the performance". They sound good to me with all types of music(including hard rock) but I keep going back to classical, vocals, jazz, new age and softer music that shows off their refinment and resolving abilities. I play them with a very low powered Decware Zen SE84C Select tube amp and they play plenty loud, so they are very effecient. Since I like low bass I added a subwoofer which really completes the sound but others might not consider that important. For $745 these speakers are a great bargain. When I was sitting on my bed(my listening chair)this morning I couldn't imagine anything sounding better, honestly. Be sure to let them break in a couple of hundred hours before judging them. Mine changed dramatically over that time period. I've been on the speaker merry-go-round for 2 years now going through five pairs of high-end speakers, I just jumped off(for now).
Product Weakness: | If you like chest thumping-low bass like I do a sub is needed |
Product Strengths: | Very dynamic, effecient, detailed yet not fatiguing, a pure joy to listen too |

Hi! I been waiting for this post from you Pete. No doubt, your review of the Twin will increase people's enthusiasm for it. A couple of questions though if you don't mind.First, I wish to know what kind of music are the Twin good at most?
How about their midrange? I know from Sean that they have enough base
to beef up the music. But does the mid stay clear and open? Can you describe the treble for me? What other speakers do you think can you compare them with?I too am very interested in the Twin for my next speakers, and in the process of gathering more about it. Thank you very much.

Hi James,I mainly listen to digital music from my cable company. There are 30 channels, each channel specializing in a different type of music. I'm constantly flipping through every station, it's fun. If I were to pick the music that show off the Twins best it would be music like orchestral, salsa, or any energized music. Maybe not as good with compressed heavy metal distortion. They are a very dynamic speaker that show off tiny nuances and details. The midrange and treble are extremely clear and open. That would be a great way to disicribe it. There is an excellent review in www.audioreview.com on the Twins by a guy that really knows his stuff. He goes into great detail about the specifics of the sound. It's much better than I would be able to do. I think you'll find it enlightening. I would like to add that the great sound I get from the Twins is in large part due to the Decware SE84C Select amplifier(www.decware.com). It is a magical combination.
Good Luck!
Pete
the Reynaud line as the Audio Press has apparently spoken and I wanted to hear what an actual customer said. My dealer, whom I have not had an opportunity to visit yet, has had very poor things to say about the model above the Trente (and he was looking forward to carrying the line). He feels that it is bright and that the sound is not well integrated across the freq. spectrum. I will have to go see for myself when I am able.

He feels that it is bright and that the sound is not well integrated across the freq. spectrum. " Only four Reynaud dealers have had the Offrande on demo, and four Reynaud dealers have had the Evolution 3 on demo, all of whom opened the line and like both models very much.
Is it possible that these comments were made after the dealer listened to speakers which had not been broken in properly? I will admit that neither the Evolution 3 nor the Offrande achieve their optimum performance prior to 100-200 hours of break-in, so it is possible that if the dealer did make critical comments it was prior to the particular model having sufficient break-in time.
If you let me know where you are located, I can refer you to the nearest Reynaud dealer who has either the Offrande or Evolution 3 in stock so you can evaluate them for yourself.
