What LS3/5A decendent has the driver rear mounted? I've never seen that!
Follow Ups:
sorry - mounted on the rear of the front baffle vs mounted on the front of the front baffle -- look at a spendor and a harbeth and you'll see what I mean

Yeah, mounted on the front versus the back of the front baffle makes a difference, at least in theory. Whether or not it matters in practice depends on the size of the driver and the frequency range which it covers, as well as the thickness of the baffle. Harry Olson described all this back in the 1950s in either "Acoustical Engineering" or "Music, Physics and Engineering". (I could look it up, but I'm comfortable in my chair at the moment.) Basically, with the rear mount, you've got a radiator radiating into a very short pipe. But I hope the designers know that and have determined that it's okay. (Or, maybe not.)Still, as Russ69 pointed out, and I agreed with, you should be looking at towers.

You got me,I'm baffled! If you want a true reproduction, here it is! BTW,I own both the Harbeth and the Spendor and they are outstanding speakers!
After 14 years with the original Rogers (vintage 1977, 15ohm) I got Proac 1sc and was astounded at the clarity of the treble range and the detail throughout. But it also sounded harder, and took some system matching to get it in balance.
So I'm hoping that the current evolutions, not copies, resolve those shortcoming while retaing the strengths of the original.
At the moment, I'm finding the Bagby very appealing, but feel the Harbeth is the 'safe' choice.

great choice.
I had Amphion one18 but sold them. I still have Jeff bagby continuum, P3ESR, SCM7 V3 and KEF LS50.
the continuum, P3's and the scm7 imo needs a sub. the one15 would also need a sub. LS50 do not.
if you have the enough money, id go with the P3ESR.
if you have 1.5k only, id probably take scm7 + sub. if you have no sub, and have only 1k for budget, id go with LS50.
Thx for the info -- very helpful, as you own the two I'm most interested in. (and have a sub, so no issue there)
I wonder if you could characterize the bagby vs the p3? And also wonder what amp you're using..
Lenny
If you are still looking I'll chime in.
I was really, really impressed with some Amphion Argon2's when paired with a REL sub. Soundstage, imaging, tone, they had it all. Driven with a Sim W5 amp and P5 preamp.
I think he means port.
