No matter the speaker I'd recommend room treatments, if not already using. Improvements can be amazing. Check out material like GIK Acoustics and such.
I have JBL 4367's, my friend sells KEF and even has the Ref 5, although the sound is good, to my ears other tweeters can't compare on mids/highs to the JBL. The JBL drivers are more clear and images better. When I say imaging, I'm referring to the instrument opposed to soundstage. KEF, or other floorstanders, could have better imaging soundstage. Also, floorstanders of quality seem to be able to go lower than the typical JBL. However, you're already using a sub. I can't see me changing from my JBL's.
Follow Ups:
I do love the tweeters on the jbl's. The overall speaker is too bright for me and of course, lacks any really low bass. The 15" cv woofers (mids and tweeter turned off) take care of that to a degree, although the system is not terribly integrated, it is smooth and pleasant.

I don't think I've heard your exact model. What are you using to drive the JBL's? Too bright would have me curious as well. You want a sound you can enjoy and relax, but still tap a toe to :)
What price are you shopping?
