I'm looking for 7.1 speakers for my home theatre and budget is $2000. Since I know very little about speakers, receiver, etc. I went to seek help.

People suggested SVS Prime bookshelf speaker (I asked for bookshelf since wife does not like those big ones), SVS Prime satellite speakers SVS Prime center speakers and Hsu research VTF-2 MK5 subwoofer.
Then I saw a post of SVS and Their Marketing Practices at Head-Fi forum:

Is SVS a brand I can trust or shall I start looking for something else?
Thanks.

best advice- get out to your local dealer/retailer for listening sessions.
$1186 is what i come up with for L+R Front towers, L+R rears, and EQed sub. these are fantastic sounding speakers recently designed by andrew jones and available on amazon with free delivery.
having heard Andrew's designs since he was with Pioneer, and now the new ELACs, i am stunned at the value.
i say you can buy these sound unheard and be thrilled with the purchase.

No center speaker? No movie watching?

I was shopping for new speakers about a year ago. There are a lot of good reviews of this companies speakers on the net. The Prime satellites as well. I have an all vintage system and decided I didn't want to introduce "new" speakers to my system. Check out the reviews on line...
Sounded excellent and they are running some great sales now.
How do we know you're not a shill?? 😁😁

There was supposed to be a smiley face on that, but it didn't post for some reason...

I'd look at Hsu, RSL, Aperion, to name a few. There are a lot of speakers in your price range.
What are you going to be using for driving the speakers?
I'm planning to buy a Denon AVR-X3200W or something similar.
Interesting the recommendation of SVS speakers then HSU subs. I'd stick with SVS for sub as well.
I purchased a SVS PC13Ultra a few years back, no problems with it and I've been thrilled with the performance. I have not heard the speakers but would be confident they are a good product. You should be able to find reviews on sites like Home Theater Review. SVS was also helpful when I was talking with them about purchasing a sub. I would think a company who sells direct, and whose continuing business depends on a good rep would be fair with their customers.
If they have a decent return policy and the warranty on the product is good, what's to not trust?
The only thing to be concerned about is how does it sound in your system. If you like it, then you're fine.
The issue is I have not tried it in the past and don't want to go through the trouble to return the products - I live in Canada, not US.
