What's your experience with them and are they worth keeping? I picked up a pair for $20 bucks at a garage sale. The seemed to sound good at the sale.
Follow Ups:
for the input. Don't know if I'll keep them or not. They're to nice to put in the garage system and don't compare with my Tannoy's, although the mid's are really nice. I went through Muddy Waters Folk Singer and it sounded just great. When it's all said and done, I'll prob have to find a nice home for them.

We've had a pair of the original SP1s in the family for 27 years; excellent speakers.
They are very good in the mid-range and treble; you can get solid and well defined bass by appropriate choice of amp. The top is gently rolled off (BBC monitor heritage) so you do not want an amp with a similar characteristic.

Let me just add a 4th yes vote. The SP1 is one of the true classics.
One of the most natural sounding speakers ever made. They don't have booming bass, sizzling highs, and they won't beat you into submission with volume, but for what they do well, they are hard to beat. You got an incredible bargain! Right now, there are three Spendor SP1/2R speakers, a successor model, selling in the UK on eBay for between $3200 and $3900 a pair! If for some reason you don't like them, you can sell them on eBay for a LOT more than you paid for them.
If they are in fair or better cosmetic condition and still with original drivers in good operating condition, they are easily worth 30 or 40 times what you paid.
I've got a pair of the more recent (but not newest) SP1/2Es and absolutely love them.
However, they are not to everyone's taste. They are not loud rock speakers and don't have much deep bass on their own. The listeners who prize them most are those who place a neutral midrange reproduction of fully acoustic music as top priority. In that sense, they are a bit out of sync with many of the more modern trends in popular loudspeakers. However, they still have a devoted following.
