I have heard the system. Like most anything I've heard from Bose along these lines it's only capable of playing what is on the surface of a recording. There will be no depth at all, no serious resolution and plenty of smearing of detail.
I can't imagine how someone said (unless it was a joke) that such a system sounded better than his Vandersteens.
Even if you're putting together a compact system both Focal and Orb offer systems of the same nature which VASTLY outperform the Bose. With Bose most of your money is paying for the ads.
Now, with all of that I certainly do understand the appeal of these lower-mid-fi systems, especially to older folks who just want something to "work" with a minimum of fuss. My in-laws bought such a system. It sounds awful, but they love it.
Cheers,
Rob

Well it depends on taste. Almost every well regarded speaker out there is disliked by some. I haven't listened to Vandersteens in years but when I did I thought they sounded lousy.
There are audiophile speakers out there that set my teeth on edge and make me want to leave the room; whatever faults Bose speakers may have they never made me want to leave the room.
I didnt much care for the Vandy that I have listened to.Sounds 'skeletal' for want of a better term. But 'lousy' is too strong.
Cheers
Bill
Tom, I have to say and quite honestly, in over 30 years in this hobby of music and gear I have heard many things said about Vandersteen speakers, but "lousy" is a brand new one.
Cheers,
Rob
