I just bought a pair of Audio Physic Spark IV's to use with a pair of VTL MB-100 monoblocks. The Sparks are rated at 4 0hms and they suggest you use a 25 to 125 wpc amplifier. My monoblocks are rated at 100 wpc at 4 ohms and use 4 EL34's per mono. I have read that the smaller VTL amps sound better when using smaller diameter drivers. the Spark IV's use 5" midbass and woofer drivers and i am assuming the this amplifier and speaker combination should be a good match. I have not recieved the speakers yet but they are coming to me shortly from a gentleman in NYC. Does Audio Physic have a house sound ? will i have good synergy between the amplifier and loudspeakers ? Did i make a good choice in selecting these loudspeakers to pair with my monos ? Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to answer my questions....WCW III

I've got good result with the VTL ST85 driving the Tempo IV that are more difficult to drive than the Spark IV. You should get very good result with your 100W monos. Yes, Audio Physic have a "house sound" as all the speakers in the world: wide soundtage, fast and clean/clear sound, not too much low frequency extension and punch. The Spark will shine in a small room, possibly far from the back wall and listened in the near field. They comes with very useful instructions on how to get the best sound. If you need more help, you can also email to me. Good listening.
PS
I use the Virgo III with the ST150 in a room less than 20 square meters and I'm quite happy!
katylied's description is right on IMHO. Depending upon what kind of music you primarily listen to, you may want to add a powered sub to get bass extension.
I have a Mark Seaton Designed 15" powered sub that i think will work well with these speakers.thanks....WCW III
