In Reply to: RE: can i wire 2 8ohm speakers in parallel using an 8 ohm crossover ? posted by marantzman88@yahoo.com on November 15, 2007 at 06:11:01
The circuit will work just fine, assuming everything is wired correctly, but as corerosin said, your x-over points will be shifted by about an octave.
I've included a link that goes into great detail with regards to passive crossover designs and implementation. U can use your 8 ohm x-over component values to determine where the x-over will be when using a 4 ohm load.

Follow Ups:
That link assumes that you are dealing with first order passive filters, which is quite unlikely for a xover that comes in a high quality modern speaker. If first order, the high xpoint may move an octave up and the low xpoint an octave down, leaving a hole.
If second order network, the change may be okay, since only the shape of the slopes change, not the corner frequencies. It all depends on the xover.
I think U might want to revisit the link I provided.
It covers 1st order, 2nd order, 3rd order, bandpass, narrow bandpass, Zobel, Low Pass, High Pass, ETC. Pretty much everything a novice would need to gain quite a bit of knowledge about passive x-overs. One just needs to click on each link for further info on each topic.
Granted, these are just starting points and cannot be expected to provide results on par with seasoned/well established designers but it gives a good overview of the basics.
Cheers
Hello,
Just to let you know, I picked up the JL Audio F113's yestday... haven't finished setting them up but they don't sound too bad so far... especially for the deal I got locally, $2,400 each!
