Hallo, I am from Belgium,
I am thinking about buying a set of medium sized top class vintage speakers for my Telefunken V69a and Telewatt/Klein and Hummel V30 Studio Tube ampliers. I recently found these very nice looking speakers on ebay number 270117365605
Any opionions about these nice looking Saba-Telewatt 70 K High End vintage tube amp speakers. An ex studio engineer of belgium broadcast told me that they used exactly the same speakers for monitor purposes in the very early 70īs connected to V69a Telefunken tubeamps?
What do you think should I go for them or better look for a set of Rogers or Tannoys? I like this pragmatic quality approach of German audio..
Funny the picture shows the speakers connected to a Fisher X1000 tube integrated monster amp..I used to own an X1000 too back in the 70īs, was a great mistake to sell it and replace it with a Sansui transistor amp...Would you go for these speakers?
Best regards
yorck

Well, truly superlative 4-way speakers aren't easy to make, certainly with the technology of the early 1970s. While the Saba 70k is a neutral-sounding speaker, it's not a very balanced one, with noticeable bass distortion and considerable interference in the treble. Because of this, these speakers don't generally bring a lot of money, even in Germany. Though I admit that an ebay ad as inviting as that one will always draw the unsuspecting.
Hallo, I used to own a pair of these nice speakers back in the 90īs
I sold my Rogers speakers, because the Sabas really sing,
you wont believe it untill you have the rare chance to listening to a pair of them.
Sadly my wife wanted a pair of electrostatic speakers so I bought a set of Quads ESL..
Funny I still miss the very good bass response of the SABA 70K..
Saba is highly underrated and undervalued (to my mind...)
Hi, these speakers are well made, sound fine !
German made quality like a BMW Bavaria !
My dad had a SABA top class hifi System:
Saba Telewatt integrated 2x50 Watt stereo tube amp VS110 (using 4 excellent Telefunken EL503 pentode power tubes),a Perpetuum Ebner PE2020 high end idler wheel automatic turntable (back in the late 60īs PE was one of the very finest recordplayer manufacturers-even better than most Lencos and Garrards!)these Saba 70K speakers and an UHER Royal reel to reel recoder...a kind of German made Revox...
Yeah I remember the silksweet sound of this nice combination, when we left Germany, sadly we sold the German tube hifi system...argh!
Best regards
