According to the literaure the SR -15 is supposed to use the same high quality Dynaudio drivers as the much more costly & still my all time favorite minimonitor speaker the SR -17.This of course is placed in a smaller enclosure with different structural geometry dampening et al that is not as good.Is this true? ...& if so what are the essentially diffrences that those who have auditioned both hear as a result? Also ,when looking on on Audigon there are various versions of the SR-17 culminating with the 71.5.What are the differances as one graduates up through these upgades? Are they subtle or quite profound?Do some prefer the earlier versions?Certainly the earlier versions which should be a little less money being older. And finally is there a more advanced version of the SR-15 or has it remained intacted as a design without subsequent tweaks. The SR-15 can be had at a reasonable price up here in Canada on the used market however the SR-17 are retailing at $3500 US making them $3900 Canadian for the newer 17.5...yikes.Anyway answers to some or all these questions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Follow Ups:
The SR17 and SR15 have different drivers. I've heard both speakers, but not the new SR17.5, and the SR17 is more dynamic and has better bass, as I recall. I think I heard the second version of the SR17, but unfortunately I can't comment on the other versions. You might try calling Alan Yun, as he will probably be happy to tell you a great deal about both speakers.
