What I've found are speakers with the 6dB lift as you describe in your post. But with the added room lift it could easily be more than 10dB at a given point correct? Here's one that's pretty darn close. Why would I buy a speaker that performs this way? And then add a EQ to straighten out it's mess.Maybe some like a challenge but I'll pass on it!

Follow Ups:
Placing a microphone near a speaker (to avoid the effects of the room) adds a microphone proximity effect error to the frequency response chart.I think John Atkinson mentions this often -- his speaker measurements and commentary are the best attrribute of Stereophile.
You would have to compare frequency response measurements in an anechoic chamber with the mike placed several feet away ... to measurements with the mike real close to the bass driver to estimate the proximity effect error.
A good rule of thumb is to subtract about 3Db from any bass peak measured with a close mike -- so the speakers in the test you linked to probably have a real bass peak roughly half the size of the peak that's shown in the chart.
The rest of the frequency response is very ragged -- I assume the reviewer liked these speakers (they seem to like everything)?
LOL.Thanks for the helpful insight! This is the only part of the review I read. The rest of the review they can keep.;-)
