In Reply to: Maggies + Rel Strata: through pre-amp or amp? posted by Paco on February 06, 2000 at 00:36:49:
Connect to the power amp and adjust the RELs to below the crossover of the Maggies. For example, the 1.6QR has a 40Hz roll-off, so set the REL to around 30 or less. This allows for the roll-off of the Maggies to match the roll-up of the REL in between. This setup provides the lowest induction signal to the REL and allows the REL amp to control the woofer. The connection to the pre-amp is used if you have a home theater setup. In that case, the REL is the LFE (low frequency effect) speaker. So you have BOTH connections. When the HT processor is doing DD5.1 the REL is getting the LFE output. When the HT processor is doing two-channel stereo, the signal to the REL is from the power amp's two front channels. REL has really done it right.
