The size of the unit is so large as to overcome alot of the open baffle cancelation. Its like a 18" open is like a good 12" in sealed.

That is I know the 18" would sound much more forceful, deeper if it was in an enclosure, but that enclosure would be bigger than a refrig and possibly too much for the other drivers. In the config above the 18 did a fine job.
