A Texas NOS tube dealer has an interesting policy:
"All shipments are shipped fully insured. Therefore, any non-functioning tubes received by the customer are considered shipping damage and all claims must be filed with the freight carrier (Fedex, UPS, or USPS) by the customer. Returns will be accepted by contacting us within 3 days of receipt and ONLY for functioning tubes returned in their original condition less a 25% restocking fee."
So if your NOS tube doesn't work when it gets there YOU have to file a claim with the carrier. Of course you never have any proof that the NOS tube was working in the first place.
They also claim they have 10,000 "tested" NOS tubes in stock.

It is only vintage if it works. Other wise it is just old crap.

I had a telephone call from Joshua of Tejastubes today about this post.
While I disagree on his method of handling bad tube shipments or damaged shipments, he seems like a very straight forward guy and I have no reason to believe he is not on the up and up.

The recipient cannot begin an insurance claim with USP or Fedex (not sure about USPS). Only the shipper can do that, and it's the shipper who gets the money from the insurance companies.
GTShelby makes a good point. in addition how can they claim shipping damage when there is no shipping damage.
anyone who orders from a place with a posted policy like that deserves what they get, imho.

I thought it was time to change my signature line
Otherwise what's the point?

Some interesting posts on other sites about bogus or counterfeit tubes as well. Now I understand why they want you to make a claim to the shipper and they don't stand behind what they sell or ship.
I'm a tube dealer. It's a tough enough business without what I would consider someones questionable practices or policies.

I looked through their listing - they do Mullard CV4004s for $449.99 a pair. Kevin Deal, who does about the most thorough testing anywhere, sells them for $60 each.

We have 100% positive feedback on eBay (over 850 now). The above thread was initiated by what appears to a now defunct tube dealer in order to besemrch our good name, and since their website is no longer functional, and they appear to no longer be in business, we must assume the intention was to create mischief in order to spread lies and misinformation about our company.
Our testing procedures are extremely stringent and we use a computerized Hickok 118B tube tester (Phil Frakes), a Amplitrex AT-1000 tester, a Maxi-Matcher for testing screening, and matching power output tubes, and a Vacuum Tube Valley tube characterizer for screening, and matching pre-amp tubes.
I encourage anyone seriously interested obtaining high quality vacuum tubes for their guitar amplifiers or Hi-fi stereo to contact us directly should you have any concerns whatsoever. Do not believe posts you read on this website as they are totally unfounded and have no basis in truth whatsoever. If you would like the accurate fact about our return policy then please visit: http://www.tejastubes.com/aboutus.htm My phone number where I can be reached in (713)471-5408. Joshua

Why are you responding to this 2 years after the fact? Nobody would even remember this alleged BS from 2 years ago otherwise. Or are there new alleged facts "somewhere" that caused you to scurry around rebutting?
