The time has come to replace the 845's in my Bel Canto SET40. It is auto biased so I don't think I can use the Psvane 845 WE's in it. Right now the most suitable replacement seems to be the Shuguang 845B. Does anyone have any experience with the cryo version of this. There is a lot of positives about the cryo'd A version but I can't find anything about cryo'd 845B's Thanks, Will

The tubes or other stuff are not dipped in liquid nitrogen. They are put in a chamber, where liquid n2 is sprayed in to cool the inside of the chamber to verrrrrrrry coooooool temperatures. Yes it would be nuts to put the tubes right into liquid n2.
Contacting Bel Canto was my first thought. You wouldn't think it would be that difficult to get the operating parameters for one of their products but it's been around a week after two emails and I haven't heard back. Not a great way to gain consumer confidence. I tried a pair of the first Super TNT metal plates years ago and they began glowing bright cherry red after a few minutes. That is why I'm kind of cautious about which tubes to try. I'd love it I knew the Psvane WE's would work in my amp. I'll try just phoning Bel Canto today to see if that will get me anywhere. Thanks to all of you for your input, Will
The first generation of SuperTnT metal plate had a 70w dissipation rating and were not to RCA 845 standard specifications of 100w.
I would contact Bel Canto directly and ask them. The Shuguang 845B is a decent tube and certainly top contender in the best bang for the buck category. FWIW, I've used 4 different 845's in my LM 218ia without issue including the above mentioned "B". The others were the stock supplied LM 845's, Psvane T's and WE's. The 218ia is biased manually using its built-in meter.
Unless your cathode resistor and bypass cap are the wrong ratings, but even then....what is it about these tubes that is sensitive to cathode basis. It's also relatively easy to make/install a variable cathode, optimized for different tube OPs.
Psvane WE series are the best sounding 845 I have tried and by a decent margin. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. They are fine running at 80mA @ circa 1KV
