My Tubelab Simple SE with Gold Lion KT-88s and 560 Ohm Cathode Resistor, according to George's simulations outputs 6.7 Watts. It also does tone and texture in a close second to my single-ended, direct-coupled, parafeed 45 amp.
That said, 3 times the power for Mahler or Bonnie Raitt helps but isn't all that meaningful even with 97dB speakers.
My latest 55 Watt KT-88 push-pull mono blocks have both the above on the shelf. See Mullard 5-20 on Diyaudio.com

I wonder, what speakers are you driving with those amps?
I've found my 5-20 amps, using KT77s quite entertaining.

I've had nothing but big bass reflex/horn speakers and little single-ended amps since Paramours 15 years ago. Nothing beats single-ended DHTs, right?
From the first time I heard my 4 Pis with 25 times the power of the 45 (the updated 5-20 is really 4-50), I was no longer a single-end snob. The 2226s have never been happier!
Sounds like it's been revelatory.
