In Reply to: RE: How do SE 6V6/12V6 sonics compare with the low powered DHT/IDHT tubes? posted by Triode_Kingdom on January 18, 2016 at 13:21:18
I had the OPs adjusted to be "optimal" and can switch between them, although it is still cathode biased.

I don't know what you mean by "optimal," but a 1626 is not as linear as a 6/12V6. The distortion characteristics of these two will not be the same, regardless of how they're adjusted.

OK, I understand. The points were originally set so that both tubes could be played with the cathode bias. A while back I posted about the possibility of switching the bias between tubes (on this or the tube DIY forum) by adding a resistor in parallel + a switch. My tech told me that he found better bias points for both tubes and changed the existing bias for the 1626 and added a new bias circuit in parallel for the 6V6.
And yes, I think the 1626 has more distortion than the 6V6.
That's the best I can do as far as an explanation is concerned.
Thank you for your reply. I wish I understood more, and that is a priority now that I am retired.
