The 215-200 EXC at 12V fieldcoil voltage will start rolling off below 200Hz reaching -6db @ 90Hz and 50Hz @ -12db. The 215-2000 EXC-OB will in the same show around 2db peaking at 100Hz and a -6db point of slightly above 50Hz.
Both of course without accounting for baffle loss and room effects.

If we assume 12V Fieldcoil Voltage for both the midband efficiency of the standard EXC would be around 100-101db/2.83V/1m (beware, the driver warrants a 6 Ohm Impedance rating due to 4 Ohm DCR, meaning this db/2.83V/1m is higher than the db/1W/1m rating) while the OB Version would be 97db/2.83V/1m.
Basically, as one can determine from the Qt of the drivers, at standard 12V Fildcoil voltages the standard EXC is best suited to Horns and the OB to Open baffles or large sealed boxes.
If you reduce the Fieldcoil Voltage you can make the standard EXC more suited to reflex or sealed boxes and the EXC-OB to smaller physocal size open Baffles. I am not sure how far one can overdrive the fieldcoil Voltage wise, both in terms of heat development and gain in flux strangth.

Is this 2db peak referenced to the midrange freq level?And David's warning on the temps generated if put in a "enclosed baffle".

> "enclosed baffle".I'm surprised. I'm running my magnet with 12V and it gets handwarm. However David should know better, so if in doubt follow the factories advise.
I understand you are using Supravox 215-2000EXC-OB in an OB.If you are running them a 12 V are you then happy with the relativly low total Q at that voltage? What happens when you raise the Q by lowering the voltage?
I had thought, perhaps incorrectly, that an ideal Qts for OB to be .7. Clearly that would not be the case at 12V. OTOH, I'd be happy with anything above 100-150 HZ, so perhaps it doesn't matter?

The efficiency drops and I can reduce the Subwoofers X-Over point very low. I ended up with the X-Over set to around 55 - 60Hz (note that the output above that falls much slower than the 2nd order LPF suggests due to the [sub]woofers response) and 12V as sounding best. For a while I was 9V but reverted back to the 12V setup.
The field coil driver will overheat at anything over 9V inside of an enclosure without forced air cooling.Typical voltage for TQWT enclosures is 6V to 8V. I prefer the sound at 6V.
On an open baffle any voltage up to 12V is OK as the heat is radiated away and not trapped inside of an enclosure.
You can take the temperature of the driver by feeling the black anodised phase plug.
