Shawn Phillips "Second Contribution" (1970) by A&M Records. "The Ballad of Casey Deiss". I'm yet again moved by the timeless compositions of this song every time I listened to it.

Follow Ups:
I still dust off Second Contribution now and again - just a great album. Don't have anything else by Shawn, though. I remember seeing him in a small auditorium around '77; he was just great, funny as hell and a great storyteller between songs as well as during them.
it's very good as well.....especially the "The Light From Between Your Eyes" song.

off some neurons.
He was huge when that album came out. He toured with big acts. Then, I recall hearing that he, while on a power boat on an Italian lake, caught his long hair in the propeller and was severely injured. At any rate, he disappeared.
I always liked his music and that of Cat Stevens and Randy Newman.
I think Shawn is the forerunner of today's Bright Eyes and Iron and Wine.
For I've long been a fan of the tall blond. "Second Contribution" is my favorite and has been in my collection for more years that I care to recall.Cheers!
His CHRISTMAS SONG is a hard one to find. How about a video from Bulgaria?
