the one where the notes are just an octive apart, 16th notes, just playing the same note on fret 12 and then open. But that "Badge" type rolling sound is tougher than it sounds, since he is changing the chord while he is doing the single picking. Hard to explain, but although that is not the greatest guitar playing ever, it surely outdoes noodlers. Like dear old George.

It all depends on what you're looking for in terms of guitar playing. The old noodler didn't have the greatest manual dexterity of rock guitarists, but in terms of musicality and phrasing, he had plenty on the noodle. The guitar work on the video-link you provided is, at least, to this noodle, dull, unimaginative, and unmusical. But then, for some, the ultimate car is drag racer. I'd rather drive a Buick. It's guitar playing like this that reminds us of what wonderful player George the Noodler could be.
There are those who will contend that terms like "musicality" is all subjective. Often, these are the types who will tell you why Grand Funk Railroad is the greatest rock band of all time, and how Bach bores them.
... isn't it?
I don't play the guitar so your description loses me.
I like Badge though. But who is Mabel???

sound Bill plays on Modern Music. Kind of a looping DCG chord progression with the notes picked istad of strummed.
