The Beeb sessions were done live, and that is Paul harmonizing in the background. The only thing remarkable John did on that song in terms of vocals was hit a lower note than he did on any other Beatles song. One of the cool things about the Beeb sessions is that they showcase their abilities to perform live -- something they took a great deal of pride in.
