Maybe they were having too much fun?
"Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination" -Michael McClure
I really liked this when it came out and bought it in 1971 or 1972 .It still sounds pretty good to me.
BB King made a "bad" album?
That one to me is... fair to middlin'. Some of the tunes are good, but it's one of those loose
jam like things that sounds like it. I don't know if he made any bad albums - certainly some
are better than others and "Indianola Mississippi Seeds" from the year before "London" is
FANTASTIC but things tapered off a bit in many of the LPs following.
Things got kind of weird when "Lucille Talks Back" clocked in at about 30 minutes.
Thirty decent minutes, but...
I think his main focus was performing live and most of his LP recordings were almost
an afterthought. He came from the singles age and that sensibility didn't necessarily
transition real well into putting out a solid 40 minute LP of great tunes.
Doesn't mean BB and Lucille weren't doing their thing well, just means the results as a cohesive
album didn't always rock my soul. But "One Kind Favor" his last LP?, man THAT is a godsend.

That's one of those albums I recall seeing, but never hearing.
Thanks.
As for "too much fun", probably, but you sure couldn't tell it from the look on BB's face.
