Yes, I am aware that my email Inbox is filling up with messages from audiophiles. They're used to me responding within a day, so the pessimistic ones think something happened to me. No, the busy life just got busier.- This whole year, there have been multiple parties a week. Some are midweek and impromptu. Most are small, 6-12 guests. But about one per month is large, with over 100 guests. Yes, I do get tapped to provide the music or DJ. If you go to these parties, you know they are fun, but the opportunity cost is that you don't get your regular tasks and chores done. Moreover, with so many people dancing and conversing, your head is on a swivel, and before you realize it, your energy has been sapped.
- My kids are in the school choir, which means we've had to adjust our schedules around the added performances.
- Speaking of their school, it recently absorbed the blow of two deaths. Two of the faculty lost their spouse; one to cancer, the other in the tragic Ghost Ship fire in Oakland.
- My daughter plays Mites U8 ice hockey. Those of you who have played hockey or have relatives in it know that it is a bigger production (and cost) than other sports. Some of the parents drop the kids off, and then go do errands. But some of us like to stay in the stands, and watch. Instead of doing audiophile things, I've preferred to talk to other parents. One of whom happens to be the Assistant GM of the Oakland A's. Obviously, I'd like to pick his brain about MLB [he was/is an Ivy League alum, a St. Louis Cardinals draftee], but then the conversation turns to hockey, and he says that his daughter often speaks enthusiastically about my daughter.
- I recently went down to Anaheim for a work conference, where I got to meet people from as far away as Samoa, who use the same software as my employer. Thing is, when you return to work, you need to work in overdrive, in order to catch up.
- Through it all, I have not neglected my audiophile duties. Because of my audio circle, I was able to bring in a Simaudio 820S. Those of you who follow my blog already know that, and have been peppering me with questions, comments, suggestions, and more requests. Receiving the 820S, however, has placed my reviews of the Mind 180 and Cooking Ethernet cables on hold.
- Several of you have been ripping CDs, and then sending the discs to me. The latest accumulation actually does include popular music (not the usual audiophile fare). Yes, I will be writing about some of these titles, so please be patient, as I listen in depth.
Okay, after lunch, I'll start replying to emails...

Possibly the finest sentence ever written in an AA post.
You have your head on straight.
Happy listening,

Thanks, for the update. Glad all is well. I wouldn't worry too much about catching up. It's impossible, this time of the year. One must slow down, smell the roses, take a deep breath. Life is short.

It must have been the roses?
