Larry had very diverse tastes and no one seemed to mind. I can't quite get my arms around the music on the "new" Rock forum (or the Pop forum, either).Maybe there is room for a new forum that includes Country, Alt Country, Bluegrass, Americana, Folk and Maybe even____?
Whadyathink?

Sounds good to me.
Rock is a pretty narrow segment so including alt country, vountry, bluegrass, folk, indie, and others would be welcome.
Meat; It's the right thing to do. Romans 14:2
For me the most fun is reading and listening to music I don't usually here and in fact might be a type of music I don't "like".
But with the enthusiasm of others I can enjoy it.
If we split the market in pieces, people (OK, I mean me) will tend to the forum that fits the music they already know and like, and is there really a point to that?
Funny you mention Americana, as I believe today is the awards show that some may be able to find streaming, etc. Maybe someone can post a link. I also miss LWR, he certainly guided this forum in a direction I liked.
I doubt we'll see another forum. The fact that AA doesn't have a Jazz forum still dumbfounds me. And don't get me started on the Pop forum... A waste of digital space. Talk about being out of touch and not understanding your audience! I will also say that the best way to bring in young and new audience to AA is via the music forums. Not through arguing about USB converters.
I'm sorry to say that the Rock forum will never be the same. It will go in a direction that will be uninteresting to me. I really miss Larry's presence. Best described as an unreplaceable void. It's time to look elsewhere for a community that I can connect with. Any suggestions?
Nor was he the only person here with diverse tastes. He DID post a lot (Bless him).
Nothing "new" about this board, it ebbs and flows according to who posts and when.
If you got 'em, post 'em!

...a retired music nut with nothing else to do.
If you like em, post em.
lucky for us he contributed a LOT to this board (and others).
He never gave the impression he had nothing else to do.
BTW - I guess you two never DID get that room.
Too bad.

...if people who like Country, Alt Country, Bluegrass, Americana and Folk like Larry did would post some of their favorite or new music here, there won't be a problem.
Go for it!
Sure- why not?
i have been checking out the forum and find little, if anything, of interest. larry. almost single -handedly, kept up the alt music postings. damn, i miss his music postings, musings and stories.
there is obviously a music posting void. mid 1980s, early 1990s music has rushed in to fill that void; it has a hegemony on postings. that is our fault.
the simple answer to your question: those of us who now turn away from the forum in boredom in its current narcissistic, self absorbed glory should begin posting the type of music that larry posted and that we enjoy. it is as simple as that.

Larry put me in touch with lot's of new music, and I hope I introduced him to a couple. I think he would have liked this.
