I played the album to death in 76 in my bedroom, trying to get the sound of Ronnie Montrose thru my Japanese Les Paul.
Young Sammy has a sort of a Robert Plant/Roger Daltrey presence here. Unfortunately, Ronnie doesn't do the cool slide intro/outrro. STILL BADASS!
Follow Ups:
Almost every tune is a winner.

"If at first you don't succeed, keep on sucking till you do suck seed" - Curly Howard 1936
For kicks, I pull the album out now and then for play along fun to keep the arthritic hands functioning. After 40 years, I've at least copped Ronnies tone, most of the cuts, and that slide intro!
I went to see him just months before he took his own life. Played a small music venue here. He looked healthy and it brought back some nice memories.
RIP
He had been battling two terrible things
Prostate cancer and lifelong depression.
...I saw Montrose in the mid-1970s at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium as the opening act for one of the LA Bands at the time, maybe the
Eagles.
All I remember about it was the chrome guitar he played reflecting the spotlight into the audience's eye.
Very cool.
I've in other threads about my Santa Monica Civic experience.
Aerosmith was doing "Rocks" tour with an unknown band opening-Bon Scott with AC/DC
...between there and Universal Amphitheater, I saw just about all the LA groups in the mid-1970s, some many times.
Linda Ronstadt
Joni Mitchell
Eagles
Jackson Browne
Seals and Croft
Loggins and Messina
Fleetwood Mac
And for opening acts:
Firesign Theater
Steve Martin
I was just too young to catch that wave of great music. I was patiently awaiting my 16th Bday to got a drivers license, so dad had to drop off my girlfriend and I.
My older brothers have bragging tights for that scene including the Doors,Hendrix and the mighty Zep
Appreciation for Fireside Theater, I have my HS performing arts/drama teacher to thank. I would have loved to be REALLY SMALL and see that WILD AND CRAZY GUY!
Times have changed. For a night out in LA:dinner/parking/show=broke till next paycheck!
