Dave McQeen open the door to let me in at 6am. At that time Dave had long hair. He asked me if I wanted to get high and we then smoked a joint together.
Wake and Bake... That was my introduction to KSAN.
I'm not a fan this activity but I was very young at the time...

They opened the ears and minds of a generation true free form radio before bean counters and play lists killed it. I remember how nice they were to us, a couple of hippie kids 12 or 13 with a PSA for our "free" school in 1969 they teated us with respect and were truly curious about what we were doing. Then we pulled out a joint and smoked it with the grew in the studio.

Presidio Hill JHS was an experimental off shoot of Presidio Hill Elementary in SF. Our curriculum for the first year I was there was government and the school year ended with a cross country trip to Washington DC. There we were a co-ed, multi racial group of kids with a couple of hippy teachers traveling in an old school bus in the late sixties through the south west and the south, going to the capitol and other government buildings and Ralph Nader's office. The two yeas I went there had a profound effect on my life.
