I am about to pull the trigger on trading my PPP for a P5 to take advantage of the upgrade offer going on now by PS Audio dealers but had a couple of questions for PS Audio before pulling the trigger. I posted this question to Paul on the PS Audio Website Power Forum but didn't get an answer so I will post my questions again over here on Audio Asylum in hopes for an answer.
I am presently running a PPP in my A/V system. The PPP is powering my 60” Pioneer 151 Kuro Elite plasma (max 524 watts), TiVo series 3 (max 80 watts) , and, Oppo BluRay player (max 35 watts). I am preconditioning the PPP with a PS Audio Duet. The other outlet of the Duet powers my Denon 4308 A/V receiver (max 972 watts/8.1 amps). I also have a SVS subwoofer (Bash amp) powered by a second Duet to isolate potential noise from the Bash amp getting to the PPP (recommended by Paul).
BTW, when I first got the PPP I did have the Denon receiver hooked up to it in addition to the other components listed above. It worked fine most of the time in that configuration, but would occasionally shut down during very demanding parts of BluRay movies when played very loudly. Thats why I bought the Duet to power the Denon rather than the PPP.
Questions for Paul:
1. I am considering replacing my PPP with the P5. Would it be possible to run my Denon receiver off the P5 in addition the Kuro, TiVo, and OPPO BlRay player? Can the P5 handle all of this without shutting down or being overdriven?
2. Would the P5 give better isolation of the components hooked up to it than the PPP, therefore potentially giving a better picture and sound even if the Denon is not being powered by the P5?
Your input is appreciated.Thanks.
Bob

Boy that's a tough one. I think it'd be close. The P5 is definitely more powerful than the PPP but not by a lot. It's biggest advantage is the ability to handle greater klong term loads without shutting down so I am tempted to say yes, but if the PPP shut down before on demands, you might have the same happen with a P5. As far as picture and sound, the P5 is hands down better than the PPP and the PPP was no slouch!
Thanks for the helpful reply Paul. I just ordered the P5. Will let you know how it compares to the PPP. I also might try it in my 2 channel audio system between an Ayre SACD player and an Audio Research Reference 2 Preamp. I'm sure that it will have plenty of power to handle those
No question about it! Let us know, I think you'll be thrilled.
