I am a long-time owner of a P300 with Multiwave. I am aware of the advice to lower the voltage setting as appropriate according to the posted chart when using tube equipment but I cannot find any posts addressing whether or not this is recommended with a solid state only system. I use PS2. Paul, can you lend any clarification? Thanks.

When the P300 was first introduced there was much discussion about the voltage output being significantly higher than that indicated on the display in a number of multiwave settings. A chart was posted with the corresponding settings/readings at each multiwave setting. The consensus seemed to be, for example, to lower the display readout in PS2 from 117 to about 105 to achieve a true 117v output. Not doing so produced an approximate 130v output which, in certain instances, appeared to be deleterious to tube life.
I am wondering whether there is a corresponding advantage to lowering the display setting to achieve a true 117 (or so) output instead of 130v with solid state gear. I know everything will "survive" with a 130v output, but is it recommended to lower the setting even if tube equipment is not involved?

To put it even more simply:
When using PS2, for example, with solid state equipment only, is it more advisable:
1. To let the P300 default to 130 output voltage with the display reading 117?
2. Manually change the display setting to,let's say, 108, which would allow the P300 to produce 120V output?
-or-
3. It doesn't matter a hoot?

Sorry. Indeed, lower the overall voltage via the front panel to lower the real voltage in PS2 if you're using a tube. If you're using a solid state amp or preamp it doesn't matter and I would leave it alone.
