HiOne would think 96k isn’t enough but when the recording types listen A-B, there is apparently little if any audible benefit in going much higher (I think there are some >100K systems).
I suppose if one kept in mind that ones hearing acuity is greatest in the 2 – 4 KHz range and adults can’t hear (unless loud) to 20KHz, that it may be reasonable.
One argument for going with more “bits” is that it makes setting the levels much less critical, that is at the final mastering, the levels are fixed.Best
