Especially those last two lines. FWIW, this hobby is about a lot of things that varies with the individual. I can tell you this, 3 of my 4 children get significant musical satisfaction from their MP3 based systems. My oldest is old school. When #2 son hooks his iPod up to my system it acquits itself quite nicely from the analog output. Not up to the standard of my digital front end IME, but it most certainly doesn't suck. I'm curious as to how MP3's would sound coming through a digital connection to my DAC. I bet they'd be very good.

FWIW, I've never heard MP3 on my sound system except through the analog output of an iPod. The iPod doesn't rely on an optical tracking system which is the domain that the GSIC operates upon. I would be curious to burn some MP3 content one day and check it out.

And while my teenage daughter loves her music she's downloaded in MP3, she isn't interested in high fidelity.
Lossy formats like MP3 have absolutely nothing to do with high end audio and our goal toward achieving greater musical realism.

In suggesting that's all I've ever done. As such, it was yet another attempt to cause myself and my personal reputation harm.I guess you forgot about this:
