I'm not mean spirited at all; on the contrary, I'm a pretty nice guy. And I'm sure they were good (though you were the one who said your X was slamming the doors upstairs).
Chalk this one up to the imperfections of the medium. I was all virtual smiles the whole time--and not mean-spirited smiles at all. But you were seeing daggers. Not your fault or (I think) mine. Just a misunderstanding.

Not to make too much more of this, but you apparently see the glass as half empty and I see it as half full. I find that most of what is presented by the Prairie Home Companion to be in good taste, if sometimes challenging, but you thought that it must be trashy, if my ex might have slammed a door to two, in order to get me to lower the volume. She would be disturbed by just about anything played above normal level.
