I see the sun rising on the left side of our house, I then see it setting on the right side, still I do not conclude that the sun is moving around the earth.Allan is completely correct in what he's saying : if the chip contains only a small piece of metal alloy, and for the time being there's no evidence for anything else, then the chip can not do what you and others think it does.
So the first thing to do is to look if it really contains what its makers pretend it does. If it does one should check if it alters the physical stucture of the CD, and if that change alters the data stream. If a real change in structure and data stream takes place one could start thinking of how the chip does what it does.
The designers of that explanation simply put together some bits and pieces without actually knowing (because they did not bother to check) if what they're basing that story on is real.
But I guess that misstra know-it-all and friends don't have the guts to carry the chip to a lab and have it examined. Otherwise they would have done so and presented us the hard, undeniable facts.
