Our company has used Atlas Sound mic stands and booms for over 20 years. We have at least 50 heavy-duty (MS20) stands with PB15 booms. We supply sound for Charlotte Symphony outdoor performances which requires lots of overhead mikes.
The PB15 booms have a habit of breaking the swivel. In the past, Atlas sold replacement swivels (PBK and PBL), but they no longer do so.
These are the most expensive booms on the market. We prefer them because they have the counterweight, which most booms do not, but with 15 broken ones, and no way to fix them, we are looking for an alternative.
Does anyone know a decent alternative to the Atlas PB15 boom?
Follow Ups:
I am a drummer vocalist who has this one. Admittedly it doesn't have a lot of use so I can't say how it holds up over the years of road use. But I have had it stretched out at least 4 (maybe 5)ft with no problems using an SM-58. At that length I had to make sure the leg positions aligned with the boom. But it was an unusual situation where I couldn't put the stand in back of me

You can purchase the boom arm for the ATLAS stand for 45.00
15 x 45.00 = 675.00
Seems more cost effective then spending 90.00 for the best Ultimate brand
boom stand x 15 will run you 1350.00
Actually, we buy them for less than that because we are dealers. But we feel that we should be able to buy replacement swivels to repair the broken booms we have in rental stock.
It seems this whole country has adopted that philosophy-don't repair it, replace it.
I'm sorry, but a $45.00 boom should be repairable.
Not familier, but what is the broken piece made of?. If Aluminum,
I could weld them up. If plastic...I guess talk to Atlas to get
replacements, and they may help if you get a dozen or more.
