QSC 1400 vs. EV 7300 for home audio application . I'm looking for good bass , power , headroom and reliability .
Follow Ups:
Used it in the PA rack for several years, and now am using it in my home audio rig. Despite what you may have heard, it sounds great, and I've never had a bit of trouble with it.It's very quiet, with a neutral, 3-dimensional sound quality. Very nice.
I would also say it matches your criteria of good bass, power, headroom and reliability. The 1400 is 200 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms and 300 watts per channel RMS into 4 ohms, both channels driven in stereo. you can also bridge it for I believe, 600 watts into 4 ohms, but I'd think a couple of hundred watts per channel should be enough for about any normal home audio application.
Cheers,
Bobbo :-)

These old amps with obsolete parts will be hard to compare, unless they have been properly refurbished. And then how would you compare them if they have been refurnished with new parts? They would not be the same. So me telling you what they were like new, when I was selling these things, is not going to mean jack.
Back then QSC amps were not known for reliability, and they were expensive. We sold exponentially more Crown than anything else. QSC was ok for low wattage, high impedence applications, in installations with low impact content. That was our experience.
These two amps were just ok back in the 80s. They were not industry standards for professionals. Neither would make it on a tech rider.
There were different versions of the 1400 made. You can check out their support forum, which is very good, for details. Those 7300s were real EV prior to OEM'ing. EV has since purshased Dynacord. They make EV amps and processing now.
Back to the question, I would not seek out either of these amps to use in my home audio system.
What would you be seeking for your personal use in your home system if you were looking..? Thanks

what speakers? Biamped or full range?
Mainly bi-amped but also be able to sound good full range if pressed into that service .

If you are looking for used stuff, I would do a Crown Reference II.
Exactly what I wanted to know though, I will do some searching for used Crown ref II..
Thanks,

It's not in the same price range as the QSC or EV .
No, you won't find a Crown for $100-200. It is what I would use. If you only have a couple hundred bucks, you have few options.
That's why my question was QSC or EV or if someone has a better option for about $200 used .
