I'm No Audiophool but I'm not a PRO user either. Just a DIYer with a Tube Jones!
Just bought my Ultra-Pro of ebay, I heard about the Behringer DEQ2496 on the Altec hostboard and thought it would help my A-7's ( Home use).
Well it did and I like it. I'm just learning to use it.
I just hope it doesn't crap out before i can really enjoy it.
Thanks for the post!
Have fun!
Willie
I use a SRC2496 and a DEQ2496 in my system, and they sound good to me. Easily worth the price and then some. For such a low price on the SRC2496, just try one and see (hear) for yourself.
What's funny is that audiophiles bash pros for their inability to buy into the audiophile nuttiness. Audiophiles are supposed to be gear sluts. Then I see audiophiles using Behringer, the toilet paper of the "pro" audio industry, it makes me laugh.
Somebody on DIYaudio said very nice things about it as a DAC. I have no real complaints about mine, other than that it's way too easy to bump the buttons if you're using it for field recording. Need to make a guard out of plexi. And I'd like a higher-resolution level display, with peak hold, or a latching digital clipping warning, and a stepped attenuator for the input gain.
It might benefit from power supply upgrades... marginal power supplies are not unheard of with Behringer gear.
... S/PDIF output from LCD/DVD combo TV, when watching movies; almost a year now without a hitch.
Grado SR125's never sounded better - soundtrack details are all there -THX sounds amazing.
(Got at blowout sale from Guitar Center, WELL worth it.)
Pass on anything Behringer. They have terrible QC. They don't actually engineer much and it shows. Their converters have ring issues, even on their "top" units.
I used to work for a contractor/distributor of Behringer. They have a terrible failure rate. They eventually told us to stop trying to service them, or send them out for service. We got a credit, gave the customers new units and threw the old ones away.
