Do you really expect someone to read all of that?
PHEW
Get this connector to plug into the RCA righ/left inputs of the amp
You the volume control through winxp mediaplayer and volume control
either on the task bar or in control panel
Use Enhancements in Media player
If your using a Mac then use this same adaptor on sound card output
You can purchase this adaptor at Walmart or Radio Shack or online etc
Follow Ups:
Stuart,
I know it's alot to read, that's why "The Short Version" is at the top.
And I have the adapter you're talking about, actually 3 plug type and 1 cord type.
What I need to figure out is whether to go pre-amp+power amp, integrated amp or receiver and which one. I want to use the powered sub I already have.
Iz
Well as far as keeping it simple a stereo integrated unit would work
well for you
Have you checked out Outlaw stuff?
Good stuff with great reviews and factory direct
If your looking for a quality stereo reciever
I believe it even has USB inputs
The Outlaw stuff is nice but out of my price range for now.
Is going from the PC straight to CD in from audio out on the sound card better or worse than USB to USB as with the Outlaw piece that has a USB connection?
If USB out from the PC is better and I don't use an amp with a USB connection do I need a DAC?
Iz
Yes
If you use SPDIF or USB or Firewire you have to have something
do the handshake to the analog world and that would be a converter
I believe some of the cheap Best Buy type recievers now have a connect
for outboard devices like the IPOD and so forth
Ok, I'm a little confused, bear with me, I asked is it better or worse to use the sound card's audio out to go to CD in and you said "Yes".
Yes it's better or yes it's worse?
Iz
No Im confused now
:)
You can use the sound cards audio out to go into whatever you wish
That output has been converted to analog
Note the quality of the output is based on the quality of the sound
card
My experience is on board sound cards (built on to motherboards) are
pretty much crap
If you want the better quality you would use and outboard DAC and
use firewire,USB, or optical output of the computer
