I posted this question over in the speaker and computer audio forums, but thought I might get more input over here, since this is the Pro Audio Forum. I'm intrigued by the idea of using a pair of possibly Dynaudio active monitors with a Benchmark USB Dac1 to get a good sounding setup for my computer audio. I'm very new to all of this, and was just wondering if any of you guys go this route, and what would be the trade-off vs. the traditional DAC>amp> hifi speakers scenario.
Thanks!

which speakers are you getting?? apogee makes some solid DAC if thats what your asking. Seems what you picked out is top notch for playback.
I have been running a computer as my main source now since 04. I am using a preamp because I need to switch in analog sources but I have run the Benchmark in straight to the amps and found that to be the best sound of all. Running into active speakers is a very very good way to do things. If there is a slight leannes or whatever just remember most all good player programs on computers have nice eq's built in!
