Multiple ways, numerous approaches, Subjective results !!! A lot has been happening even after the deletion process. As far as the Registry slimming process is concerned, there are a few approaches as well, but i resorted using Registry Mechanic for the same. Its a software i have been using since 3 years now, & it works flawlessly well. The method of using it for our purpose here is quite different though !!!
As mentioned above, there are numerous approaches to this as well, but i would outline the procedure that suited the best to me...Starting with the basic Cics optimized cMp :
1. Install Registry Mechanic (Full version)
2. While in XP MODE, run the Registry Batches first ( all of them)
3. Run Registry Mechanic & then minimise it to the system tray.
4. Start running each Batch file for every step followed by Scanning the Registry. For eg. Run the Batch file for Steppe 2 > maximise Registry Mechanic > Scan the Registry > Select Repair > Minimise Registry Mechanic again to the system tray...
5. Do the above for all the Batch files, but be sure NOT to close Registry Mechanic, just minimise it.
By following the above procedure, i was able to clean the Registry even after completing all the steppes & Mihaylov's lists. (Juli@ users need to kill the Julapan.exe using the taskmanager BEFORE starting the deletions, else the file will reside in the system tray & will not be deleted while running the batch for Mihaylov's list..)
It cleaned nearly 2200 + errors from the Registry. I could never imagine that the sonic impact of doing this would be of so much importance...
I have recently re-built my cMp for using ps2 mouse, & eliminating all usb drivers. Absolutely Worth it !! I am going to modify the ps2 mouse to use an external power supply so that it does not use the power off the MoBo, using a Granite Digital psu & feeding the 5v to the pin 3 & 4 of the ps2 mouse..
