Encouraged by the improvement after applying CCleaner's Registry cleaning, I want to try further optimization with optimizers that can dig deeper. And I tried 2:
1. Advanced SystemCare. This utility picked up 1300+ error entries mainly related to ActiveX.
2. Free Registry Cleaner which picked up 360+ errors mainly related to deleted/non-existing Netscape and Microsoft DDLs
The overall effect is improved transparency and detail. Recommended.
A side note: After step 1 above, when I rebooted the system into cMP, a blue screen appeared. I thought I went too far and may be I need to do a partition restore. But it turned out it was not the BSOD, but XP decided to go into Registry defragmentation after a much reduced Registry. After taking a few minutes to defrag the Registry, everything is back to normal.

I don't know. May be because of the different XPs? My cMP is running on a Home Edition. I just checked my other XP system, a Professional, the config folder is at 121MB.

Sounds like a great idea, just can't use it on my cMP machine.
Excuse me please but I did not get you Rick.
