Annoyed by the results after steppe 16, & reverting back to steppe 5, & finally back to where it all started (original cMp), I was all set to discover the best combination out of all that we had accumulated so far. And then Mihaylov posted his tweak. Since I had implemented all steppes, I thought why not give it a try, afterall nothing to lose since I had a back up handy. As posted earlier, I found it to be a very good step heading in the right direction. Inspired with the result I began stepping ahead with the Original cMp in the following order ( continuosly without a break or audition in between, by using the Batch files)...
Steppe 2
Steppe 3
Steppe 4
Jolida 1
Jolida 2
Steppe 5
Steppe 6 ( I skipped xplite)
Steppe 7
Steppe 8
Steppe 9
Steppe 10
Steppe 11
Steppe 12
Steppe 13
Steppe 14
Steppe 15
Steppe 16
Bold Fortune Registry changes only

There were a lot of changes to be made in many of the above posted lists, to make boot-ups go smooth, get Juli@ to work, get cicsremote to work , & restart in cMp mode. After making all the corrections, everything seemed to work perfectly well.
End Result :- unbelievable Sonics, excellent liquidity & dynamic range, very good blend & spacing between instruments, pleasantly laid-back & non-fatiguing.
Only after reaching this stage, I could sense what a cMp is capable of doing, & where it stands in comparison to awfully expensive transports....
Ofcourse there are short-comings as well, but there is still a lot of room for improvement at a hardware level, which tentatively will unleash what's been veiled still..!!
Worth it.. Absolutely !!!!

You inspired me to go all the way.
I followed your path to steppe7. Then did the complete Bold Fortune. Really like the sound at that stage. Took a system image after ever step so comparison is easy.
Then went up to steppe10. Took a defrag while I still could. Then applied 11 thru 16 (just the first safe part). Started & restarted CMP and then applied the 3 Mihaylov lists file deletions from exporer within cmp. I forgot to do the folder deletions (will try that in future) Also from explorer entered Autoruns and deleted each and ever registry entry that had file not found.
Then reboot back into cmp.
Music very good. Have not had time for serious assessment, but after 30 mins it is clear it is in another league.
Thanks for your batch files and the inspiration.
Cool. Good to hear that :)
Do the screenshot 1 as well. It changes the flavour of the sound. I liked it though...

Congrats on your final end result...lots of hard work there I'm sure. Can you explain a little about screenshots I neverdid d/l them. What are they? What do they do, how do they sound?
The screenshots which Mihaylov posted. Shows the remaining files/folders after deletions. Helped a lot in the process BUT must be done carefully. Especially with fonts. My cMp needed more fonts than on his screenshot. Also Juli@ refused to play without it's needed sys files. Rest can be replicated though..!!! I still have some more of it to be done. But I will first take the back up & then proceed. Autoruns too is way risky unless one is 100% sure what's to be removed. Else, a Blue Screen..!!!

Which makes me wonder if, when it was working, it would REPORT but not be able to AFFECT?
It is possible.
I was deleting stuff like mad!
Absolutely. One wrong thing, & it takes u to the bsod. Unless u are very sure what to remove from it, stay away..!! It's best done after taking a back up after all file deletions so that u know which entry in it is causing the blue screen, to pin it down in a safe zone..
Junaid
thanks
