Hi,
If you rip to WAV, make sure to create a CUE sheet for each rip when you rip. If you ripped in JRMC and didn't create a CUE sheet, your library would not be very portable to a different media program because of the player's proprietary library database.
While people can argue over whether FLAC decompression is audible during playback, you really can't debate that FLAC makes for a library of far greater flexibility than WAV. Unfortunately, CUE sheet support seems to be hit or miss among media plyers.

Tagging WAV is a problem, see the link below.
You can rip to FLAC and WAV but maintaining 2 libraries is not nice.
My advice is to rip a couple of tracks to both formats and do a listening test.
If you don’t hear a difference stick to a lossless format well supported and has good tagging so FLAC.
BTW, ripping to FLAC won’t tie your hands. Tools like dbPoweramp can convert it to any format of choice. That’s the fun of ripping to a lossless format, it is lossless so can be converted to any other lossless format without losing any information at any moment you want.

ok thanks, that's the sort of advice i seek...how about the hardware issue: is the mini a good choice? -is the Z 520 processor superior to the N 450? -what would be the optimum operating system+processor combo? -and is 1GB RAM sufficient?
thanks again...
